Historically, Huon Aquaculture relied on divers for the arduous task of manually cleaning their vessel hulls. Recognising the associated risks and time limitations, the company sought an innovative solution. They aimed to harness cutting-edge robotic technology to efficiently clean the intricate surfaces of their vessels, which featured complex geometries.
To address this challenge, So Sub introduced a custom-designed pressure cleaning head onto the APAMA ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). This innovative step was pivotal in achieving the desired results.
The use of the APAMA ROV was fundamental to the success of this project. With its impressive six degrees of freedom, it could precisely position the high- pressure water blasting gun. This unique approach to using the ROV & capabilities allowed for efficient and effective cleaning. Unlike divers, this machine could work continuously without the need for breaks.
The implementation of the APAMA ROV led to significantly enhanced efficiency. Notably, the barge cleaning process no longer necessitated isolation as there was no risk to human life, thanks to the robotic approach.
